Club night Control 04/01/2011 . Wolfgang Gartner / Felix Cartal

Submitted by Eduardo on Monday, 4 April 2011

Music saved Wolfgang Gartner’s life! He’d hit rock bottom and checked into rehab, before dedicating himself to crafting electronic music. After birthing his mainroom slaying alias, Wolfgang Gartner, in 2007 Joey Youngman has gone from strength to strength with multiple top 10 hits on Beatport and a Pete Tong backed BBC Essential New Tune. The electro house don can also add Grammy Nominee to his repertoire as of this year, and has remixed the likes of MSTRKRFT, reinterpreted Beethoven for the dancefloor and he keeps pushing boundaries, refusing to stand still. A sell out last time he hit Avalon, I’d be getting there early if I were you.

A Vancouver native, Felix Cartal was born with a passion for hard hitting electronic music with influences ranging from the heavy distortion of The Bloody Beetroots and Boys Noize, to the techno influences of Vitalic. Cartal’s blend of abrasive distortion, intense instrumental build-ups and unique frequency variations have made him a pioneer of heavy house, and basically a badass deliverer of bass, relentless dancefloor intensity and heavy melodies. He’s got the support of Aoki, MSTRKRFT, Tommie Sunshine and more.
